Trimethylolpropane (TMP) is a tri-functional alcohol widely used as a core building block in the production of polyester polyols, alkyd resins, and urethane coatings. Its three hydroxyl groups offer excellent branching capabilities, enhancing crosslink density and improving performance in coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.
TMP contributes to increased hardness, chemical resistance, and weatherability in finished products. It is also used in lubricants, plasticizers, radiation-curable resins, and as an intermediate in synthesizing esters and acrylates.
