Tetrahydrofuran
Description
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a clear, low-viscosity, highly polar ether with excellent solvency characteristics. It is widely used as a solvent in the production of PVC, adhesives, coatings, and elastomers due to its ability to dissolve a broad range of polymers and resins.
THF is also a critical intermediate in the manufacture of polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), a key component in spandex fibers and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs).
