Phthalic Anhydride
Description
Phthalic Anhydride is primarily used as an intermediate in the production of plasticizers, alkyd resins, and polyester resins. It reacts readily with alcohols and glycols to form esters, which are essential in manufacturing flexible PVC products, synthetic lubricants, and unsaturated polyester resins used in construction, automotive, and marine industries.
Phthalic Anhydride also serves as a precursor for dyes, pigments, and certain pharmaceutical compounds. Its high reactivity and versatility make it a key building block in industrial organic synthesis.
