Dimethylamine is a simple secondary amine with the chemical formula (CH₃)₂NH. It is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature, typically supplied as an aqueous solution and is highly soluble in water and many organic solvents.
Dimethylamine plays a key role in the production of agrochemicals (such as herbicides and fungicides), pharmaceuticals, rubber accelerators, surfactants, and water treatment chemicals.
It is also used in the production of Dimethylformamide (DMF) and Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) — widely used polar solvents.
