Description
5-Sodiosulfoisophthalic Acid is a water-soluble aromatic dicarboxylic acid salt used primarily as a functional monomer in the production of polyester resins. The sulfonate group provides ionic character, improving hydrophilicity, dyeability, and dispersibility of polyester-based materials.
It plays a key role in modifying polyesters to enhance dye uptake, especially for basic dyes, and is also used in waterborne coatings, inks, and adhesives to improve compatibility and performance in aqueous systems.
